To start making your own SUNSCAN, you'll need to have a 3D printer, black PETG filament, and a soldering iron. The black PETG is crucial because it offers both the rigidity required for durable, functional parts and the opacity needed to block infrared light. The soldering iron will be necessary to properly insert metal inserts into the 3D printed parts, ensuring a strong and reliable connection. Don’t worry about being a 3D printing expert—basic familiarity with 3D printing is sufficient, and there will be plenty of resources and community support to guide you through the process.
On this page you will find all the STL files necessary for printing a SUNSCAN. Pictures allow you to see what the pieces look like.
For convenience, a complete mechanical kit is available for purchase from Azur3DPrint, which includes all necessary 3D-printed parts, screws, inserts, etc. You can order it in a single click here.
Orientation : Be careful to orient the part on the plate of your 3D printer on the right side. The side highlighted in orange on the visuals must be on the plate.
Infill : For all parts 15% infill with a grid pattern is sufficient.
Rafts, Skirts, Brims, Supports : Only one part requires the activation of the supports, see in the "Comments" column. Depending on the quality of your 3d printer you may need skirts on certain parts.
