What’s New in Version 1.4
2025-11-01
Updated the core of the application and all dependencies to meet the new Android requirements (Google Play target API level).
Improved image saving function on smartphones and tablets.
Fixed several bugs in the application and in the SUNSCAN OS firmware running on the RPI4.
Improved control interface: the acquisition window is now taller, making helium line acquisitions easier.
Enhanced ephemeris panel: when the app is launched without a connection to the SUNSCAN Wi-Fi, it now uses GPS data and stores it for future sessions. This allows the ephemeris panel to be displayed even when the app is started while connected to SUNSCAN.
New negative view for the H-alpha line.

New color mode for Doppler images: choose between Orange-Blue and Red-Blue.

Doppler images are no longer calculated by default. A dedicated button allows you to enable or disable Doppler image generation in advanced processing.
Scan animation is now available for stacked images.

Continuum image calculation is now performed by default — no need to open the advanced mode.
New language available: Spanish.
New camera screen orientation option: choose between camera on the right, camera on the left, or automatic mode based on the phone’s position.

Experimental Features
New focus assistant: displays a sharpness score to help achieve better focus on the sun’s edges. This feature will likely be improved in future versions.
The system calculates a moving average score based on the slope of the two detected edges of the sun. To obtain reliable measurements:
Keep the sun horizontally centered and as wide as possible in the frame.
Avoid changing the exposure time during this phase, as the score depends on the contrast between the sky background and the continuum.

New 3D mode: view the sun as a 3D globe, with rotation and zoom controlled by device motion. This mode is currently experimental, but the integration of projection and 3D rendering mechanisms lays the groundwork for much more advanced features in upcoming releases.
